Love you all, praying for you.
Do you know one thing I just love about God. He speaks! He doesn’t just speak to important people, famous people, accomplished people, incredibly talented people. He speaks to listening people. Whoever listens – He speaks to. He speaks through His Word – He speaks by the Holy Spirit in your spirit, He speaks in the night season, He speaks through other people, He speaks through situations, He speaks through donkey’s, He can even speak through your own mouth. Not your own mind, but your own mouth. He speaks in prayer, He speaks in His Presence, He speaks in PiVAT before dinner – every single day. He speaks through your PRISM time in His Word – every single day. He speaks through Godly friends, and Godly counselors, He speaks through nature, and He speaks through traffic jams. Picked up delivery trucks this morning - out the door at 6:15 pickup at 7 am back to the office at 7:45 – before the heavy traffic even hits. Ahh the best intentions. They Rental Truck company lost the keys to one of our trucks – so we waited an hour while they re-made them. This delay put us just in time to be in bumper to bumper traffic from the west side of Cincinnati all the way to I-71 North. As we were literally crawling – my mind was on so many things – praise and prayer and dreams and plans, thanksgiving, (no texting) just making use of the time the best I knew to honor God, and not letting temporary things get me upset as I watched the bumper of the car or truck ahead of me. When suddenly I get a call from Evan who was driving the second truck. “There’s been an accident on 71 North that is going to be red for miles. It’s re-routing me beyond the 71 North exit – to Montomery Rd – to Snider and re-entering I-71 North at a further point. So we changed course - took a different route, and soon we had circumvented the obstacle and were making progress once again. And God asked me a question. How soon do you realize the need for a change? How long does it take you to recognize there is change needed in your life or in your situation? A different direction, another route, a modification, a different road to take so you don’t continue in the same rut – or traffic jam you find yourself in. And if there is a better way – if God has a better way for you – how soon do you recognize that you need to ask Him? In the Old Testament the Bible describes the mighty men that came to make David King of Israel – who supported his reign, and secured his throne. I Chronicles 12:32 - from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do--200 chiefs, with all their relatives under their command; another version says – “who understood the best course for Israel to take.” These men were listeners – they didn’t allow themselves to just go through the motions, to continue following blindly in the same direction, they weren’t caught in the current - looking at the bumper of the car in front of them, or the back end of the horse in front of them. These were seekers – they were seers - they had elevated vision – they were seekers and finders. I always thought this applied to geo-political times – but seers, seekers, hearers, and obeyers sense God’s change of direction in all change needed times – geo-political, or family and personal. Praying that you will always lift your eyes above the traffic jam you are in – that you would be faithful in it, but also recognize when God is trying to divert you from it. That you would be faithful here – but open to there. Open to adjust, change course, try something new – if that’s what the Holy Spirit leads you to do. So that in every season, in every situation – you would sense and hear and obey the plans that your Heavenly Father has – for your good. He said He would lead you in the way best for you. Praying that you will listen, that His voice would be clear – and your response would be instant in season. Love you all, dad
